Yeah, I know that around here this is ’Murica, but super-patriotism is far from my bag. I love my country, which is America. I don’t need fireworks and loud parties to prove that. I just need a few colorful cats … and they don’t much like all that noise. That’s why the furry one and I will be taking it easy tomorrow. Lord knows I don’t need fireworks going off when he’s in my lap …

  1. My dog, a Golden Retriever, does not like fireworks either. I may have to give one of his Prozac (Fluoxetine) pills tomorrow to keep him calm. He is a hyperactive hound who might become too agitated. Yes the veterinarian did prescribe Prozac for my dog.

    • I’m actually surprised my vet hasn’t suggested Prozac for Luke. Luckily, though, he tends to handle fireworks kinda OK, mostly because he stays in his hidey-holes if it gets too loud. It’s the isolated ones that seem to bug him more, which is why I try to keep him out of my lap at this time of year. I don’t need to become an involuntary blood donor. 😉

  2. LOL! That eagle pic cracked me up. I’m with you, stayin’ home where it’s cool, comfortable, and relatively quiet, and keeping a close eye on the dog, who’s doped up on Benadryl. Also have Valium if it becomes necessary. Wouldn’t be so bad except fireworks are totally, completely illegal here. Hope your Fourth has been a good one.

    • I saw that one when I was looking for art and just KNEW I had to use it. 😉

The fireworks started earlier this evening (earlier than normal), and when Luke has emerged from his hidey holes, he’s been warily walking around with his ears cocked every which way. He came in to the bathroom earlier to make sure I was safe, so at least he’s not a total nutcase … so far … that may change when I have to take out the trash in a bit.
